Summer School of Italian Language and Culture – Edition 2015

Introduction

The University of Bologna’s Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (LILEC) with the cooperation of the Fondazione Alma Mater, is now promoting the 2015 Edition of the Summer School of Italian Language and Culture.

Students interested in applying for these courses can choose among three different course-options, where tuition in class is combined with an afternoon program of cultural trips and activities: a two-week intensive course for beginners; a three-week course for beginners, intermediate and advanced; a combination of both courses, for a total duration of five weeks. Students can learn Italian language, both written and oral, by getting into direct contact with the traditions and culture of the territory.

Information about the Summer School of Italian Language

Dates & Programme

1st Module: Intensive Summer School in Italian Language and Culture for Beginners, June 22 - July 3, 2015

Intensive two-week course for beginners and absolute beginners (A1, A2, B1 levels), scheduled as follows:
- 50 hours of tuition in class (morning and sometimes afternoon)
- cultural visits/activities (afternoon)
- optional week-end field-trip

  • Tuition Fee: EURO 450,00

2nd Module: Summer School in Italian Language and Culture, July 6 to 24, 2015

A three-week course (A1 and all superior levels), scheduled as follows:
- 50 hours of tuition in class (morning)
- cultural visits/activities (afternoon)
- 2 optional week-end field-trips

  • · Tuition Fee: EURO 650,00

Complete Course - June 22 - July 24, 2015: A combination of 1st and 2nd Module, for a total duration of 5 weeks

  • Tuition Fee: EURO 1.000,00

A final Certificate of Attendance shall be awarded to students who have attended at least 70% of the School’s Program (tuition and cultural visits/activities).

The teaching activities correspond to 3 ECTS credits for the 1st Module and 5 ECTS credits for the 2nd Module, depending on the University's policy and credit system.

It is the responsibility of each student to verify with her/his own program whether these credits can be validated and on what extent, and to request the recognition of credits at her/his Institution.

Venue

Courses will take place from Monday to Friday at the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, Interpreting and Translation, situated in Via Filippo Re 8, in the heart of the university life, closed to the city centre and to the main cultural attractions.

Visa

We encourage participants needing a visa to Italy to register as soon as possible. No invitation letter will be provided before the payment of the tuition fee has been received. It is the participant's responsibility to contact the Italian embassy or consulate in their country.

Accommodation

There are numerous hotels, B&B's and other accommodation options in close vicinity to the Summer School venue (http://www.bolognawelcome.com/en/).

The hotels and residences listed below offer special fares to Summer School 2015 participants. Each one of them may be booked by contacting the hotel directly. Please, read carefully the relevant information concerning the accommodation provided in the attached PDF “Accommodation”.

Accommodation Fees

Accommodation fees shall be paid directly to the Residence or to the housing structure chosen. Please, see attached file “Accommodation”.

Requirements

Students must be aged 18 years or older at the moment of the on-line application and have got a higher school diploma.

Courses are open to students (undergraduate and post-graduate) and non-students alike and will take place only if a minimum number of participants is reached.

In case the courses are not activated, only the course fee (not travel tickets) already paid will be refunded.

In case the courses take place and the student will not attend, the course fee already paid will not be refunded.

Each student has to self-evaluate his/her Italian language skills according to proposed grid (see the attachment).
This self-evaluation is the first step of the whole evaluation procedure that the student will complete on the first day of School in Bologna.
